"Terra-cotta Suburbia" depicts an imperfect yet idyllic aquatic habitat made of terra-cotta pots, a man-made invention derived from natural clay. Although there are cracks running through towering pots and there are shards of terra-cotta on the ground, the lush, green Java fern plants counteract these imperfections and add a homey, more suburban neighborhood vibe to what would otherwise seem a more urban landscape.
Aquatic sand, terra-cotta pots, terra-cotta shards, silicone glue, assorted aquatic fish (guppies) + African dwarf frogs, Java fern, aquarium filter & heater, 20 gallon glass cubic aquarium, LED light, black display stand. 2019.
